THERAPEUTIC COUNSELLOR
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What can I expect in the first session? In our first session, we’ll spend some time getting to know each other. You don’t need to share everything at once, it’s about finding a pace that feels safe for you. I’ll ask a few gentle questions about what’s brought you to therapy, and we’ll talk about how we might work together. 2. How long are sessions and how often will we meet? Sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place once a week. Some people choose to come more or less often depending on their needs. We can discuss what works best for you. If you're coming for trauma-related therapy, it's best to choose the same time and day each week. 3. How much does therapy cost? Sessions are £60 for 50 minutes. I also offer a limited number of reduced-rate sessions for those on lower incomes. Please ask if you’d like to know more. 4. Do you offer online sessions? Yes. I offer secure online therapy for clients who prefer to meet from the comfort of their own home, or who live outside of Tunbridge Wells. 5. How long will I need to be in therapy? Everyone’s journey is unique. Some people come for a few months, while others choose longer-term support. We’ll review your progress regularly and you’ll always have the choice about how long you stay. 6. Is everything I say confidential? Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential. The only time I may need to break confidentiality is if I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, but I would always try to talk to you about this first. 7. Do I need to have experienced trauma to work with you? Not at all. While I specialise in trauma, I also support people with anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and many other challenges. 8. How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me? The relationship between client and therapist is very important. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consultation call. It’s a chance for us to meet, ask questions, and see if working together feels right. 9. What happens if I need to cancel a session? I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule, otherwise the full fee may be charged. I understand that life can be unpredictable, so we can talk about what’s manageable for you. 10. How do I get started? You can contact me through the form on my website, or by email/phone. I’ll respond within 24–48 hours and we can arrange your first session or a consultation call.
